Secure Exchange Solutions Addresses Top Challenges to Advancing HIE in a Value-Based Care Environment

The transition to value-based care is fraught with challenges for health plans, hospitals, physicians and patients. With all stakeholders exchanging more electronic health data than ever before, it’s no wonder that the role of health information exchange has been elevated as a priority in the new value-based care environment. From data sharing, analytics and security to patient engagement and cost control, the need for robust systems to seamlessly transmit clinical data has never been greater.

By enabling all stakeholders to collaborate and share information, Secure Exchange Solutions is addressing these challenges while working to meet the changing needs of a dynamic and evolving healthcare landscape. With solutions that support analytics, clinical decision-making and patient engagement, Secure Exchange offers value to stakeholders beyond facilitating the transfer of health data: We are working to eliminate clinical duplication, enable informed decision-making and improve care coordination and management.

As healthcare continues to move toward patient-centered care, seamless data transfer will become a “ticket to play.” Are HIEs prepared?

The Secure Exchange team delivers an open channel to exchange information that is integrated, secure and intuitive, while reducing and, hopefully, eliminating needless overhead. Prior authorization, which is time consuming, cumbersome and results in wasted time and resources, is one area of focus.

Recently, we launched the “Innovation Messaging Taskforce,” a group of industry thought leaders whose collective knowledge and expertise in health information exchange will help address the pressing issue of prior authorization and related processes. Our immediate aim is to define and pilot a combination of standards that can be used by the industry to improve current processes.

By working with healthcare leaders from other disciplines, we hope to bring an industry wide perspective to solving the challenges at hand as we transition to a value-based care system
