Secure Exchange Solutions Chosen by Leading Hospitals Nationwide for Direct Secure Messaging

Enables MU Stage 2 Transitions of Care, Efficient Care Collaboration

ROCKVILLE, Md. – September 15, 2014 – Secure Exchange Solutions, a leading health information service provider, today announced that it has been selected by a growing number of hospitals across the United States to provide Direct secure messaging for electronic health records. These healthcare organizations are integrating Secure Exchange software with their EHR systems to deliver secure interoperable communications that streamline care collaboration, improve patient management and ensure attestation for Meaningful Use Stage 2.

The hospitals join health information exchanges and EHR, practice management, and patient record software vendors that are already using Secure Exchange technologies to enable secure communication between end users and healthcare stakeholders. Three hospitals that have recently deployed Secure Exchange Solutions software include Norwegian American Hospital, Memorial Hospital and Meadville Medical Center.

Norwegian American Hospital became the first Chicago hospital to integrate MetroChicago Health Information Exchange’s Direct secure messaging feature through the use of SES Connect within its MEDITECH system. “Integrating secure messaging into our MEDITECH EHR enables us to meet the transmit requirements for Meaningful Use,” said Mariusz Mazek, Chief Information Officer for Norwegian American Hospital. “The rapid integration process allowed us to meet our attestation timeline, and allowed MEDITECH portal users to electronically transmit a patient’s summary record to other Direct-enabled providers and organizations in Illinois and nationwide.”

Memorial Hospital, an acute-care facility in Towanda, Pennsylvania, deployed Secure Exchange software to connect the hospital to all referral facilities. “With Secure Exchange, we can now easily communicate patients’ most important information, including medication lists and allergy lists, ensuring that all providers are on the same page,” said Tina Lammy, Meaningful Use Coordinator for Memorial Hospital. “Secure Exchange Solutions is supporting our Meaningful Use Stage 2 attestation. It has been a pleasure working with Secure Exchange Solutions, a company committed to getting our site running and that provides knowledgeable support and wonderful customer service.”

Meadville Medical Center, a community hospital and leader in healthcare in Northwestern Pennsylvania, is using Secure Exchange software to send and receive continuity of care documents through its EHR. “The setup of Secure Exchange was straightforward and the highly competent Secure Exchange Solutions support team has walked us through each step, keeping us on track to begin our Meaningful Use attestation period,” said Michael Martz, CIO of Meadville Medical Center. “Secure Exchange software will enable our providers to seamlessly exchange CCDs for smoother transitions of care.”
