Prior Authorization Document Burden Reduced by Secure Exchange Solutions Direct Secure Messaging

Prior authorization continues to be a headache for providers. Although technology platforms exist to address the document burden on clinicians, a recent poll by the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) showed the problem is increasing rather than diminishing. According to the MGMA Stat poll, 86% of respondents reported that prior authorization requests, as well as other requests from health insurers asking for physicians to provide supporting documentation on patients, had increased in the past year.

Secure Exchange Solutions Direct secure messaging is addressing the increasing burden of prior authorization for providers and payers. The SES Direct platform relies on communication and encryption protocols that allow for ease of integration with existing EHRs and enables attachments to be sent securely between providers and payers. The proprietary software ensures trust, by issuing certificates with attachments, which is why SES Direct is being adopted by HIEs, providers and payers nationwide.

With SES Direct secure messaging, providers and payers can communicate directly with one another about patients, improving the prior authorization process and helping patients get the care they need faster.
